Get Ready For Christ
Expand/ Contract

Always remember, we are to be ready for Christ's return.  Do not think that since He hasn't came back in over 2000 years, that He isn't coming back.  So let's look at another parable Christ gave that is written Matthew 25.

Mat 25:1 Then the kingdom of heaven be comparable to ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went out to meet the bridegroom.
Mat 25:2 Five of them were foolish, and five were prudent.
Mat 25:3 For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them:
Mat 25:4 but the prudent took oil in their flasks along with their lamps.
Mat 25:5 Now while the bridegroom delayed, they all got drowsy and began to sleep.
Mat 25:6 But at midnight there was a shout, Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.
Mat 25:7 Then all those virgins rose, and trimmed their lamps.
Mat 25:8 The foolish said to the prudent, Give us some of your oil; for our lamps are going out.
Mat 25:9 But the prudent answered, No there will not be enough for us and you too: go instead to the dealers and buy for yourselves.
Mat 25:10 And while they were going away to make the purchase, the bridegroom came; and those that were ready went in with him to the wedding feast: and the door was shut.
Mat 25:11 Later the other virgins also came, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. Mat 25:12 But he answered, Truly I say to you, I do not know you.
Mat 25:13 Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day nor the hour.

This parable can also be looked at in two ways.  To be honest, I am not sure which is correct, but will tell the two ways below.

This parable mainly relates to the nation of Israel and not to the church.  Since this is related to the second coming, it has to mainly relate to Israel as Christ is coming back from the wedding going to the wedding feast.  The wedding is with the church (His bride) in heaven.

Now, the Bridegroom and the bride would be together as they head home from the wedding feast. How do we know that He is coming from the wedding feast? Look at Luke 12:35-36:
Luk 12:35 Be dressed in readiness, and keep you lamps lit;
Luk 12:36 be like men who are waiting for their master when he return from the marriage feast, so that they may immediately open the door to him when he comes and knocks.
He is coming home from the wedding feast and his bride will be with him.

The oil represents the Holy Spirit.  As you notice, some of them have the Holy Spirit with them and some do not.  This relates to how some of the people of Israel will be ready for His second coming and some will not.  It also has to do with the genuineness of faith.  Is your faith geniune or do you just talk a good game?  Again, remember, that you are going to be standing in the presense of Christ, whether it is for your rewards or to be judged.

Be prepared for when he comes.  Either at the rapture, or God forbid, at His second coming.  Do not just think that you have done nothing wrong and have been a good person all your life, as just being good will not get you into heaven.

Now, many others think that this is only for the church prior to the rapture.  But as I have shown above, it has to be related to the nation of Israel.  Remember that God has never forgotten the nation of Israel.  They have always been in His sight and His first focus.  It is also for the church in that we must always be ready for His return by doing the works He has for you to do.

Next let's take a look at the third parable

Mat 24:44 "For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.

Luk 12:40 "You too, be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect."

Rev 3:3 'So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you.
